What I Offer

At SelfSpace Therapy, you’ll find a mix of therapeutic approaches to help you explore what’s going on beneath the surface, whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or just curious about what’s inside. Here’s how we might work together:

Internal Family Systems (IFS)-Informed Therapy

IFS is a gentle way of working with all the different “parts” inside you, the inner critic, the anxious planner, the one who shuts down, the one who just wants to hide under a blanket. Together, we create space to get to know these parts, understand what they’re trying to protect, and connect with your calm, wise centre (IFS calls this your “Self”). It's not about fixing you, it's about befriending yourself.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT / Tapping)

This approach combines talk therapy with gentle tapping on acupressure points to help shift emotional blocks and regulate the nervous system. If you’ve ever felt like your mind knows you’re safe, but your body’s still freaking out, EFT can help bridge that gap. It’s calming, simple, and surprisingly powerful (even if it sounds a bit strange at first).

Supportive Counselling

Sometimes, you just need a place to talk it out. No fixing, no judgement, no awkward silences, just someone who listens, gets it, and helps you make sense of things. Whether you're navigating a big life change or dealing with the slow build-up of daily overwhelm, counselling gives you room to reflect, reset, and feel supported.

Working with Historic Trauma

Old pain can linger quietly (or not so quietly) in the background of our lives, shaping how we see ourselves, how we relate to others, and how safe we feel in the world. Together, we gently explore those experiences at a pace that feels right for you. You don’t have to retell everything in detail, sometimes it’s just about feeling seen, supported, and not alone with it anymore.

What does the first visit look like?

We talk. That’s the short version.
The longer version: you bring whatever’s on your mind (or in your heart or in your chest at 3am), and we explore it together at your pace. Some sessions are quiet and reflective, others are full of insight, tears, humour, or all of the above. I’ll sometimes introduce techniques like EFT or parts work, but always with your consent and comfort in mind.

Is therapy for you?

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, unsure, or just curious about what’s going on beneath the surface, therapy might be a good place to start. You don’t need a crisis or a clear goal. Just a willingness to show up, and maybe a little openness to things shifting. We can take it from there, gently.
