FAQ
Got questions? Totally fair — starting therapy can feel like stepping into the unknown (but in socks, not shoes). Here are some answers to the things people often wonder about — from how sessions work, to what it costs, to whether it’s okay if you cry (it is).

What actually happens in a therapy session?
We talk. That’s the short version.
The longer version: you bring whatever’s on your mind (or in your heart or in your chest at 3am), and we explore it together at your pace. Some sessions are quiet and reflective, others are full of insight, tears, humour — or all of the above. I’ll sometimes introduce techniques like IFS parts work or EFT, but always with your consent and comfort in mind.
How long does one therapy session last?
I recommend sessions be between 60 to 90 minutes.
That gives us enough space to settle in, explore what’s going on, and not feel rushed. Some people prefer a solid hour, while others find a bit of extra time allows things to unfold more naturally. We’ll figure out what suits you best.
What is IFS, and do I need to know anything about it before we start?
Nope — you don’t need to know anything.
IFS (Internal Family Systems) is just a way of understanding that we all have different “parts” inside us — like the worrier, the perfectionist, the shut-down one, and the people-pleaser — and they each have a reason for being there. In therapy, we gently get to know those parts and help them feel less extreme. It’s deeply respectful and kind work. No prior reading required.
What kinds of issues can you help with?
I work with people navigating anxiety, emotional overwhelm, past trauma, big life changes, people-pleasing, inner conflict, self-criticism, and general “what-is-even-happening” feelings. If you’re not sure whether your thing is “therapy-worthy” — it is. Truly.
Do I need to have had trauma to benefit from therapy?
Not at all.
You don’t need a dramatic backstory to have a hard time. You might be feeling stuck, low-key anxious, disconnected from yourself, or just plain exhausted — that’s all valid. I work with people on everything from historic trauma to “I don’t know, I just feel... off.”
How long does therapy last?
That depends on you.
Some people come for a handful of sessions to work through something specific. Others stay longer for deeper self-understanding. You’re never locked in — we check in regularly about how it’s going and what you need.

FAQ's..
Everything you need to know about the meetings with me.
Is it okay if I cry? Or don’t cry?
Yes. And yes.
There’s no right way to be in therapy. Some people cry a lot. Some people never cry. Some people crack jokes to avoid crying (hi, me too). However you show up is absolutely okay.
What’s your cancellation policy?
Life happens — totally understood.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, I just ask for at least 48 hours’ notice. That gives me time to offer the space to someone else who may be waiting. If it’s less than 48 hours, the full session fee applies (unless there’s an emergency — I’m human too).
Do you use tapping (EFT) in every session?
Not unless you want to.
Some people love EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) — especially if they feel stuck in their body or overwhelmed with emotion. Others prefer to talk things through. We’ll decide together what’s most helpful. You’re always in the driver’s seat.
Is what I share confidential?
Yes — completely.
Everything you share in therapy stays between us, with a few legal exceptions (like if there’s a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, or if I’m required to share information by law). I’ll explain all of this clearly in our first session so you know exactly where you stand.
Your privacy, trust, and sense of safety are top priority — always.
Do you offer in-person or online sessions?
Both!
I offer in-person sessions if you’re local and prefer to sit down face-to-face (yes, the tea is real).
I also offer online therapy via Zoom, which works well if you like the comfort of your own space — or your own pets nearby. Both options are equally effective, and we can mix and match depending on what works best for you.
How do I book a session?
How do I book a session?
Easy — just head to the Contact page, drop me a message, and I’ll get back to you with available times. You don’t need to know exactly what to say. Just a “hi, I think I might want to try therapy” is a perfectly good start.
