About Me
Hi, I’m Joe, a therapist who believes that most things can be worked through with a little curiosity, some kindness, and possibly a cup of tea. I’m a qualified counsellor with a postgrad diploma in psychology and counselling. I’m also a trained Emotional Freedom Technique practitioner (EFT), trauma-informed practice, and Internal Family Systems (IFS-informed) therapy. My approach is gentle and grounded, creating a space where all your parts (even the overthinkers and avoiders) are welcome, and you don’t have to edit yourself to be understood.

Life before
Before I became a therapist, I worked as an interior architect, then a wood sculptor, which means I’ve spent most of my life shaping space and form, whether physical or emotional. Alongside that, I’ve always been fascinated by psychology, inner growth, and what it means to heal. SelfSpace is a place to lay things down, look at what’s going on inside, and begin to find clarity, not through pressure, but through presence. It’s a calm, judgment-free space where you can be messy, honest, and fully yourself. Tea is optional, but recommended.
I work in a way that’s grounded, flexible, and led by what you need. At the heart of my work is Internal Family Systems (IFS) — a gentle, respectful way of exploring the different parts of you that might be in conflict, stuck, protective, or just plain exhausted. I also use EFT (tapping) to help ease overwhelm and regulate the nervous system, and I draw on a mix of counselling and trauma-informed techniques to support you in feeling safe, seen, and not rushed. Every session is tailored — we go at your pace, and you’re always in the lead.
